Why Hard Water Needs a Different Approach
Hard water contains naturally occurring calcium and magnesium. In a dishwasher, these minerals can contribute to limescale, cloudy glassware and water marks — and can make effective cleaning more difficult.

Detergent, Rinse Aid & Salt — What Does Each Do?
Dishwasher Liquid
The detergent does the cleaning. It removes food, grease and everyday soiling during the main wash.
Rinse Aid
Rinse aid is released during the final rinse. It helps water drain more readily from dishes and glassware, supporting drying and helping to prevent spotting and filming.
Dishwasher Salt
Dishwasher salt supports the water-softening system built into your dishwasher.
It is especially important in hard-water areas because it helps the machine deal with the minerals naturally present in the water.
For the best results in hard water, detergent, rinse aid and dishwasher salt work together.
More Details
Recommended Dose - Use 5–7.5 ml per wash.
Start with 5 ml for a standard dishwasher load. Increase gradually up to 7.5 ml for heavily soiled dishes or in very hard-water
areas if required.
Directions
- Scrape excess food waste from dishes before loading.
- Load your dishwasher as normal, ensuring the spray arms can move freely.
- Add 5–7.5 ml of Greenscents Organic Dishwasher Liquid to the dishwasher detergent compartment.
- Close the compartment and run your preferred dishwasher cycle.
- For best results in hard-water areas, keep the dishwasher salt reservoir full and use Greenscents Organic Rinse Aid.
Top Tip – Tea & Coffee Stains
For stubborn tea and coffee stains, add ½ teaspoon of Greenscents Dishwasher Liquid directly to the mug or cup.
Top up with warm water and leave to soak before rinsing. Repeat if required.
