- Greenscents certifications mean you can be sure there is no “greenwashing” and that Greenscents products are authentic.
All Greenscents bottles are made from biopolymers produced from sugar cane waste. Conventional plastic is usually made from oil and natural gas which are non renewables and would not support our efforts as an environmentally friendly business.
By using renewable sugar cane, not only do we end up with a sustainable type of plastic but it also captures CO2 during production, greatly reducing greenhouse gases generated during the manufacturing process. This plastic is also 100% recyclable as PET, which means that all local authority kerbside recycling schemes should recycle Greenscents bottles which will help to reduce landfill dumping.
Greenscents displays the “I’m Green” trademark seal on our labels to tell our customers that we are using biopolymer bottles not conventional plastic.
If you order direct from our website, you will receive your products in a box made from fully recyclable cardboard. The loose white filler is made from maize starch and is 100% biodegradable. Alternatively, we may pack with shredded paper, which can be recycled with the box.
Greenscents labels are fully sustainable. A life cycle assessment has been carried out on our labels looking at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, energy use and water consumption. All the label waste is recycled and the adhesives are biodegradable. The labels are made from paper and the pulp is obtained from FSC and PEFC forests. The entire label is recyclable.
All Greenscents products are made in our workshops in Somerset, England to the same premium and ethical standards. Greenscents laundry liquid was rated the number one most ethical product by Ethical Consumer in their March/April 2017 report ahead of all the main green laundry producers including Ecover, Attitude, Ecos (Earth Friendly), Method and Bio D. Greenscents has also been judged the most ethical producer of multi-surface sprays and washing up liquid by Ethical Consumer.
All Greenscents products are suitable for people with sensitive skin. However, our Nonscents range is unfragranced, so it is particularly suitable if you have very sensitive skin or are allergic to essential oils. Greenscents products do not contain SLS or SLES — common skin irritants in laundry and household cleaners and all of our products are certified ‘allergy friendly’ by Allergy UK.
Yes. All Greenscents products are made from a palette of non-toxic, low allergen ingredients which makes them perfect for babies and small children. Our nonscents range offers the ultimate purity and protection for little ones.
Yes. Greenscents products are perfect for use with pets and you’ll find our floor soap, laundry liquid and multi-surface sprays are particularly useful for cleaning areas where your pets have roamed. Greenscents products are also completely safe for parrots, which can be seriously affected by certain cleaning chemicals.
Yes. All Greenscents products are biodegradable and will not kill off the good bacteria in your septic tank that keeps it healthy. Greenscents products will not pollute local watercourses either.
Greenscents sprays are not anti-bacterial.
There is overwhelming evidence from scientists that anti-bacterial products do not clean better than soap based products. In fact, there are reports that anti-bacterial cleaners can actually harm people through cross-resistance, making the bacteria completely resistant to the anti-bacterial cleaning product. Anti-bacterial products were banned in the USA in September 2016 because manufacturers failed to show that these were any better than soap based products.
Greenscents multi-surface sprays have a unique formulation that provides superb cleaning power with organic and natural ingredients. When the product is used bacteria will be removed.
Greenscents products are fragranced using organic essential oils and nothing else. The fragrance range includes citrus, lavender, herbal and minty. We source our organic essential oils from small European farms in Spain and Italy.
Our Nonscents range is fragrance-free and a great option for customers who prefer no scent, or who have very sensitive skin that could be affected by our essential oils.
No. SLS and SLES are inexpensive chemicals that are used extensively in cleaning and personal care products. Both SLS and SLES have questionable safety records and are not compatible with the Greenscents ethos. SLS has been linked to serious skin irritations and can cause poor eye development in children. SLES can become contaminated with 1,4 – Dioxane during the production process. 1,4 – Dioxane is possibly carcinogenic in humans and it has been proved scientifically to be carcinogenic in other animals.
None of the products in the Greenscents range include palm oil as an ingredient. While the destruction of tropical rain forests continues as land is cultivated with palm plantations, Greenscents will not purchase palm oil whether RSPO certified or not. Occasionally, a surfactant that we use may have been processed using a small amount of palm oil. When we buy these surfactants we always buy Mass Balance (MB) grade which is the highest industry standard for environmental credentials and is the most ethical.
All Greenscents products are labelled with the production date and best before date. Most of our range will be fine for two to three years but do check the labels on your products.
All Greenscents products are made in our workshops in Dulverton, Somerset, GB

How to use Greenscents products
The best way to use Greenscents loo cleaner is to squirt the liquid around the toilet bowl and use a toilet brush to spread the liquid over the bowl. Leave the liquid in place for up to 10 minutes before flushing with the lid down. That’s it! Repeat daily or as necessary.
Greenscents laundry liquid and laundry conditioner are perfect for washing delicates, wool and silk. You can either hand wash or machine wash these items. However, if you machine wash, please make sure to follow the manufacturers instructions.
Many people use the drawer to add the laundry liquid and conditioner, though some customers prefer to add their products straight into the drum. Either way is acceptable, but please remember to measure your liquids first, just 20 ml (two capfuls of the laundry liquid and three capfuls of the laundry conditioner) is enough for a 5-6 kg wash.
All Greenscents products are very concentrated and have more active ingredients than many similar cleaning and laundry ranges. Please follow the usage instructions on the product labels. We reduce the water content in our products as much as possible so less packaging is needed. Smaller bottles are easier to carry around and use less energy to transport helping to reduce our carbon foot print.
